SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — On Monday, the Lackawanna County Children’s Library hosted a lively biological showcase designed to spark kids’ curiosity and excitement for discovery.

‘Gross, Weird, Cool Science’, presented by Susie Maguire, gave kids a fascinating look at unique animals, marine life, and other natural phenomena.

From black apples, purple lava, and pink water lakes to galaxy frogs, weaponized sea anemones, and fish that can climb trees, the event was packed with bizarre and brilliant natural wonders, leaving both kids and adults learning something new.

Maguire, known for her zany approach to science education, has developed a series of imaginative programs for kids, including Snot School, The Imaginarium, The Poop Museum, and The Inventor’s Academy.

“They are laughing and learning and having a fabulous time.. and parents too. Parents learn a lot and parents learn the value of curiosity. If I was going to say to any parent anywhere, ‘What is the one thing you protect for your children’, is your child’s curiosity. Because that, more than anything, is a guarantee of future success and adventures,” said Maguire.
