ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — An Elmira woman was arrested on Friday as a fugitive from justice after deputies said she violated her parole in Pennsylvania and was later found during a traffic stop in New York.

Ashley E. Spencer, 37, was arrested Friday, Jan. 23, on a fugitive from justice warrant out of Pennsylvania for a parole violation, along with New York State charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and criminal impersonation in the second degree, according to a release from the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, around 6 p.m., a deputy conducted a traffic stop of a woman, later identified as Spencer, who had violated a New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, the release stated. During the stop, Spencer was found with drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in her possession. Additionally, when the deputy was trying to identify Spencer, she provided a fake name, the release said. Spencer was then taken to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

As a result, Spencer was identified and found to have an outstanding arrest warrant out of Pennsylvania. Deputies said she was then processed and charged with the additional above-listed crimes out of New York State. After processing, Spencer was arraigned in court and sent to the Chemung County Jail, awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
