The Erie Community is joining in efforts to make sure that Aimee’s life was not lost in vain. While she only had six months of life, her legacy is sure to outlast that.

Aimee’s story pulled on the heartstrings of thousands of people and local businesses are showing their support by donating to the shelter that fought so tirelessly to save her life.

The ANNA Shelter stands for the Association for Needy and Neglected Animals, and their team stepped up when it came to Aimee’s case.

One of the businesses that is currently raising money for the ANNA Shelter is Peace Love and Little Donuts on Peach Street. From now until the end of February, Peace Love and Little Donuts on Peach will donate 25% of every purchase of a Doggy Donut to the ANNA Shelter.

The owner, Jim Marshall, expressed to us why he wanted to help out, “She tries to help out all animals, you know dogs especially but really any animals she tries to help them out so we just figured, we’d try to help her out by giving some money and help her do what she needs to do to keep these animals safe”, he said.

Gary’s Flower Shop is also showing support, donating 10% of every order. Gary Maas, the owner, told us that he thought this would be a good way of getting the community involved in giving back to the ANNA Shelter and credits his tech-savvy assistant for helping to come up with the idea.

“Every arrangement we make comes from the heart, every arrangement is unique, so I think that you know, floristry goes more than just putting flowers in a vase, there’s emotion to it, and I think when, you know, there’s emotion in the situation as well, so I think it helps to give back to a sad situation,” Gary’s assistant, Steven Leise, said.

In addition to Peace Love and Little Donuts and Gary’s Flower Shop, several other businesses have stepped up and are listed below.
