Exeter Township police have released details following a crisis response Sunday afternoon that resulted in a fatality.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 2:40 PM, Exeter Township Police were dispatched to Longview Drive for a report of a male subject armed with a weapon and threatening self-harm.<\/p>\n
Exeter Township Police officers responded and coordinated with Berks County mental health personnel and trained crisis negotiators. Responders attempted to de-escalate the situation and provide assistance to the individual.<\/p>\n
Shortly after police and negotiators arrived on scene, the male, whose identity is being withheld at this time, inflicted a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers and EMS immediately attempted to render medical aid. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported, and there is no threat to the public.<\/p>\n
