During the upcoming chilly nights, the Erie City Mission is opening its doors for those in need earlier than usual. This is due to another overflow shelter being delayed in its opening.<\/p>\n

The organization is hosting a temporary overnight warming center every day from now until Nov. 26.<\/p>\n

Men and women are welcome in the facility for a safe and warm place to stay and will have gender-separated sleeping quarters for safety.<\/p>\n

The mission will also be offering coffee and snacks, with breakfast in the morning and lunch in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

During their first night, employees went out to find those who needed shelter and ended up having 21 men and 12 women stay overnight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was thinking about it as I walked from my house to my car this morning and drove to work, how cold I was, and knowing that they\u2019re out there all night,\u201d said Robert O\u2019Connell Jr., the outreach director for the mission. \u201cSo, the challenge for us is we don\u2019t want them to be, and we need to do everything we can to give them a place to be warm.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shelter is currently running low on supplies.
