SCRANTON, PA \u2014 A Stroudsburg man was arrested Friday morning in Scranton on felony charges of forgery and receiving stolen property, police said. <\/p>\n
Joe Farentz Louis, 24, was taken into custody by Scranton police at 9:37 a.m. on a warrant issued by Stroud Area Regional Police. <\/p>\n
The warrant stems from an April 3 incident at the NEPA Federal Credit Union, where police say Louis attempted to deposit a fraudulent U.S. Treasury check using his driver\u2019s license as identification. <\/p>\n
According to police, the credit union contacted authorities on April 7 after verifying with the IRS that the check had not been issued to Louis and was fraudulent. <\/p>\n
No funds were disbursed. <\/p>\n
Charges were subsequently filed and a warrant was issued on November 6 by MDJ Gasper. <\/p>\n
Louis was transported to the Central Scranton Booking Center following his arrest. <\/p>\n
