(Entech) has announced a ten-year extension of its headquarters lease at the Gateway Building on Penn Street, reaffirming a deep and deliberate commitment to the City of Reading and its role as the economic and civic heart of Berks County.

Founded in Reading in 1981, Entech has maintained its headquarters within the city for more than four decades, growing alongside the community it serves.

The Gateway Building, located at 2nd and Penn Streets, has served as Entech’s headquarters since 2015 and is home to approximately 100 professionals. Entech’s “fit out” renovation prior to relocation earned recognition as one of Lehigh Valley Business’s “Coolest Offices” in 2017, reinforcing a commitment to creating an engaging, modern workplace in the urban core.

“Downtown Reading has been part of our story since day one,” said Robert Weir, PE, President of Entech Engineering. “Recommitting to our presence here is about more than office space, it’s about being part of Reading’s continued revitalization and supporting the community that has supported us for over forty-five years.”

A key component of that investment is Entech’s active engagement with neighboring educational institutions that are helping fuel the region’s engineering and technical workforce. Entech works closely with Reading Area Community College, supporting engineering-related coursework and career pathways in utility operations, and maintains a longstanding relationship with Alvernia University, where Entech professionals serve on the Engineering Advisory Council and regularly host students through mentorships, internships, and experiential learning opportunities. In parallel, Entech provides facilities engineering services to both institutions, reinforcing a two- way partnership that blends education, workforce development, and infrastructure investment.

“These relationships are intentional and strategic,” said Kirsten, Director of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development at Entech Engineering. “They ensure students can see a future for themselves in Reading, gain real-world experience here, and build careers here.”

The lease extension secures Entech’s Penn Street headquarters through at least 2035, providing continued proximity to regional partners, clients, educational institutions, and the downtown amenities that support collaboration, recruitment, and employee engagement.

As Reading continues its revitalization, bolstered by public, private, and institutional investment, Entech remains committed to being not just a participant, but a leader in shaping a resilient, opportunity-driven future for the city and Berks County.

Entech Engineering, Inc.
