READING, Pa. –\u00a0Patty Pagoda has made her weather prediction.<\/p>\n
Patty saw her shadow, predicting\u00a0six more weeks of winter.<\/p>\n
Groundhog Day in Reading looks a little different this year. Patty Pagoda made her forecast from the 800 block of Penn Street. Officials decided to move the event from the Pagoda over concerns about road conditions on the mountain.<\/p>\n
Mike Reinert, President of Pagoda-Skyline Inc., said the tradition started in 2006. People got together and said that Reading should have its own groundhog.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials were advised that handling real groundhogs can be hard to handle, so they went with having a person in a groundhog suit to make the prediction.<\/p>\n
Joey Miranda, President of the Foundation for the Reading Pagoda, said organizers decided to move the event to\u00a0Penn Street due to the brutal cold and winds.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog weather watcher in Gobbler’s Knob, will predict if we\u2019ll have six more weeks of winter or an early spring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"READING, Pa. –\u00a0Patty Pagoda has made her weather prediction.
