The historic site in Exeter Township will offer an open house and living history event featuring 18th century demonstrations, trades and hands-on activities. Children and their families can enjoy Colonial toys and games.<\/p>\n<p>There is no admission fee. No pets except service animals, and no smoking. The event had been scheduled for Jan. 25 at Muhlenberg High School.<\/p>\n<p>The Scottish Festival Concert will feature the Reading Choral Society along with Berks Youth Chorus, Blue Mountain Heritage Chorus, Opus One Chamber Choir and Vox Philia under the direction of RCS Music Director Dr. Graham Bier. This is the first time the choirs have done a concert together. Each will perform separately and then together for \u201cAuld Lang Syne,\u201d a commissioned piece by Christopher Hoh. Tickets also will be available at the door.<\/p>\n<p>Black History Month<\/p>\n<p>Kutztown University is marking Black History Month with an extended version of its annual Ujima Conference, which celebrates African and Black heritage. Rather than a traditional three-day conference, there will be a series of events starting Thursday and continuing throughout the month. The event takes place Friday at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Reading. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the event beginning at 6:30. RSVP is requested by calling or texting 484-721-8491.<\/p>\n<p>Caregiver support<\/p>\n<p>Keystone Villa at Douglassville\u2019s dementia education and support group meets Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the personal care building at 1152 Ben Franklin Highway East, Amity Township. The group brings caregivers together to share experiences, gain helpful insights and resources and find moments of joy.<\/p>\n<p>The topic Thursday is \u201cCaring from the Heart: Coping with the Changes You See and the Changes in Your Relationship.\u201d RSVPs are appreciated. To register, call 610-385-5002.<\/p>\n<p>History talk<\/p>\n<p>National Park Service Ranger Sarah Bachan will deliver a presentation on Philadelphia during its years as the U.S. capital, 1790 to 1800. The free program takes place Sunday at 2 p.m. in the visitor center theater at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, Union Township, and is presented by Friends of Hopewell Furnace.<\/p>\n<p>Art of paper cutting<\/p>\n<p>The Schwenkfelder Library &amp; Heritage Center in Pennsburg, Montgomery County, will hold a program on the art of paper cutting on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will make snowflakes and scherenschnitte. The program is free, but registration is required to order supplies. Stephen Ohnsman will speak in a Spirit on Tap program on Feb. 27 at 9:30 a.m. in Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave. The topic is \u201cUnholy Alliance: An Overview of Christian Nationalism in America.\u201d The program was rescheduled from Jan. 27.<\/p>\n<p>Stargazing series<\/p>\n<p>Wyomissing\u2019s Stargazing in the Parklands series returns for its fourth year starting Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. It offers participants the opportunity to explore the night sky from the west slope of the Parklands, which as minimal light pollution and expansive views,\u00a0 The series is presented in partnership with the Berks County Amateur Astronomical Society.<\/p>\n<p>The program allows participants to experience the changing night sky throughout the year. Additional dates are May 22, Aug. 14 and Nov. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Property tax and rent rebates<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Tracy Pennycuick\u2019s office plans to host Outreach Days every Thursday from February 12 through April 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boyertown Area Multi-Service, 200 Spring St., to assist residents with applying for Pennsylvania\u2019s Property Tax\/Rent Rebate Program.
