Investigators said Thalia Matos was impaired after consuming marijuana allegedly laced with embalming fluid or formaldehyde, Gallagher said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Matos\u2019 impairment, combined with unsafe sleeping practices, created a substantial and unjustifiable risk to the child\u2019s life, according to the criminal complaint. Matos\u2019 conduct also constituted a gross deviation from the standard of care required of a caregiver responsible for the safety and welfare of an infant, and that this negligence directly contributed to the child\u2019s death, investigators allege.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Police charged Matos with with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Matos was released on $40,000 unsecured bail.
