WOMELSDORF, Pa. – Charges have been filed in a fatal crash that took the life of a western Berks County man last summer.<\/p>\n
On the evening of June 28, 2025, Womelsdorf Police were dispatched to the area of North Water Street and Conrad Weiser Parkway (Route 422) for a reported accident with ejection.<\/p>\n
Arriving officers located 72-year-old Dennis Hitz of North Heidelberg Twp., who died at the scene.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, 24-year-old Sergio Figueroa of Palmyra, Lebanon County, was driving on 422 and allegedly doing more than twice the posted 50mph speed limit when he struck Hitz’s vehicle from behind, causing it to slam into a tree.<\/p>\n
Figueroa is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving and related offenses.<\/p>\n
