The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered a 5-4 overtime loss on the road to the New York Islanders on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh was playing the Islanders in a pivotal game for the Metro division, and the Penguins led 3-2 and 4-3, but New York rallied to force overtime. In overtime, Bo Horvat scored the winner, which was a disappointing loss for Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re at the point of the season (where) we need that other point,\u201d Penguins coach Dan Muse said<\/a> postgame on Tuesday. \u201cEspecially against these guys, where things are in the standings. So, you walk away disappointed. Obviously, at the end, it wasn\u2019t quite enough. But the process, I thought our overall game was better.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Islanders are now one point back of the Penguins for second place in the Metro division, showing how important that extra point was for Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a back-and-forth battle,\u201d Rust said<\/a>. \u201cI thought we fought through some adversity out there. Overall, I thought we were decent. Obviously, we\u2019d like to clean up a few things. We definitely would have liked to have that extra point.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the loss, the Penguins fell to 28-15-12. Pittsburgh will return to the ice on Thursday on the road against the Buffalo Sabres in the Penguins\u2019 final game before the Olympic break.<\/p>\n
