Cognetti in Washington as snow buries Scranton<\/p>\n
Editor: As a person who commutes to Scranton for work and is forced to pay for the privilege of working in Scranton, what do Scranton taxpayers and commuters get for the money that they are being taxed from every paycheck? \u00a0What commuters and taxpayers receive is a raw deal from a city government and an incompetent Mayor Paige Cognetti who is too busy with her congressional campaign for Scranton taxpayers.<\/p>\n
On Jan. 25, the area was hit with a snowstorm that dumped around a foot of snow. While other municipalities in the area were able clear out the snow, the city of Scranton had backstreets and alleys that were not cleaned almost a week after the storm hit. As of a week and half later, there were city sidewalks that weren\u2019t cleared and cars that people hadn\u2019t dug out. Where was city government and the mayor?<\/p>\n
Mayor Cognetti was in Washington D.C. when the storm hit, worrying more about her political ambitions and her Congressional campaign than the city where she was elected as mayor.<\/p>\n
Scranton taxpayers deserve better than a part-time mayor. Under her watch you have a city full of potholes that damage vehicles, a city that can\u2019t conduct basic functions such as snow removal and children in the west side that have to worry about getting hit by a car on their way to school.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cognetti is seeking a promotion to Congress. I don\u2019t believe that the rest of Pennsylvania\u2019s Eighth Congressional District wants Cognetti\u2019s incompetence as their representative and for the rest of the district to be like Scranton. I don\u2019t think so. In November I will be sticking with Congressman Bresnahan.<\/p>\n
