LISBON \u2014 A Pittsburgh man is set for arraignment this morning in Columbiana County Municipal Court, after leading area law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit in late January.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brian C. Pike faces charges of failure to comply with the order of a police officer, a third-degree felony; driving under suspension, a first-degree misdemeanor; use of unauthorized plate, a fourth-degree misdemeanor; reckless operation, failure to control and tail light violations, all minor misdemeanor violations; and operation without insurance.<\/p>\n
A Lisbon Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop Pike for an equipment violation at 7:37 p.m. Jan. 23 near Mile Post 15 on state Route 11. Pike fled the interaction at speeds up estimated at 135 mph, according to a St. Clair Township police officer who was waiting to intercept Pike when he reached the southbound ramp of state Route 11 in Calcutta.<\/p>\n
St. Clair Township, picked up on the crash, noting that Pike was following until he crashed into a hillside, going into East Liverpool police jurisdiction.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The officer exited his cruiser with his duty weapon drawn, eventually hearing Pike, who was sitting on the hillside covered in blood, calling out.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pike initially alleged he was not the crashed vehicle\u2019s driver but eventually admitted he was.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He was taken into custody by the State Highway Patrol and charged. In addition to St. Clair Township Police , the patrol received assistance from the Sheriff\u2019s Dept. and Columbiana police.<\/p>\n
During the sequence of officers covering the vehicle, a second crash with no injuries reported had occurred behind the township cruiser, which the Lisbon post handled.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday morning, Pike appeared not to have been served with the felony case only the traffic offenses, according to the Columbiana County online case docket.\u00a0<\/p>\n
