{"id":107122,"date":"2026-02-06T17:07:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T17:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/107122\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T17:07:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T17:07:09","slug":"orasure-trimming-global-workforce-including-here-in-lehigh-valley-bethelehm-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/107122\/","title":{"rendered":"OraSure trimming global workforce, including here in Lehigh Valley | Bethelehm Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BETHLEHEM, Pa.- OraSure Technologies, the Bethlehem-based medical device maker, is cutting jobs.<\/p>\n<p>A company spokesperson told 69 News that OraSure is reducing its non-production workforce in the U.S. and Canada as it works to rebalance its cost structure and support investments in its product roadmap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ten positions at OraSure&#8217;s headquarters in Bethlehem are part of the cuts, the spokesperson told 69 News.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the company, which makes at-home\u00a0diagnostic tests and sample collection devices, reported $27.1 million in revenue, a decrease of 32% from a year ago. CEO Carrie\u00a0Eglinton Manner\u00a0previously said OraSure was hoping for a return to growth this year, after the &#8220;transition year&#8221; of 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New products expected to launch in 2026 include an over-the-counter molecular self-test for chlamydia and gonorrhoeae (produced by subsidiary Sherlock Biosciences), and a urine self-collection device to test for sexually transmitted infections.<\/p>\n<p>OraSure&#8217;s global headquarters is based at 220 E. First St. on Bethlehem&#8217;s Southside. It also has a site across the street at 150 Webster St., where it houses corporate offices and research and development; and manufacturing and warehouse space at 2685 Opus Way in Bethlehem Township.<\/p>\n<p>Its original manufacturing site at 1745 Eaton Ave. in Bethlehem has been listed for sale since 2024, according to the commercial real estate website <a href=\"http:\/\/Loopnet.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Loopnet.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>OraSure is also the parent company of DNA Genotek, Inc. in Canada, and Sherlock Biosciences, which has locations in Massachusetts and the United Kingdom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company spokesperson declined to say exactly how many layoffs were being enacted across OraSure&#8217;s entire footprint, but said the reduction &#8220;equates to a mid-single digits percent&#8221; of the overall global workforce.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson also didn&#8217;t specify how many employees would remain at the company, but said OraSure continues to employ about 240 people in Bethlehem.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>OraSure&#8217;s total headcount has been shrinking over the past couple of years.<\/p>\n<p>According to 10-K forms filed with the\u00a0SEC, the company had 840 employees as of December of 2022. That number was reduced to 638 a year later.
