Erie, Pennsylvania-based Erie Indemnity Company (ERIE<\/a>) is a managing attorney-in-fact for the subscribers at the Erie Insurance Exchange. Valued at a\u00a0market cap of $13.2 billion<\/a>, the company provides issuance and renewal services, sales-related services, underwriting services, and information technology services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This financial company has considerably underperformed the broader market over the past 52 weeks. Shares of ERIE have\u00a0declined 29.8%<\/a> over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX<\/a>) has\u00a0gained 12.2%<\/a>. Meanwhile, on a YTD basis, the stock is down marginally, broadly in line with SPX.<\/p>\n

Narrowing the focus, ERIE has also lagged behind the State Street SPDR S&P Insurance ETF (KIE<\/a>), which\u00a0rose 2%<\/a> over the past 52 weeks. However, it has aligned with KIE\u2019s slight loss on a YTD basis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Oct. 30, ERIE delivered its\u00a0Q3<\/a> results, and its shares\u00a0plunged 5.5%<\/a> in the following trading session. The company\u2019s operating income increased 16% year-over-year to $208.9 million, while its management fee revenue – policy issuance and renewal services grew 7.3% from the same period last year.<\/p>\n

For fiscal 2025, ending in December, analysts expect ERIE\u2019s\u00a0EPS to grow 9.7% year over year<\/a> to $12.59. The company\u2019s earnings surprise history is mixed. It exceeded the consensus estimates in two of the last four quarters, while missing on two other occasions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the three analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is a “Moderate Buy<\/a>,\u201d which is based on one \u201cStrong Buy,\u201d and two “Hold\u201d ratings.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
