The National Ice Center reported that Lake Erie was the only Great Lake to be frozen over this year, with 95% covered in ice. This, of course, doesn\u2019t stop Erie locals from getting out on the lake and having a good time!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Out and about!<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-25900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/IMG_8298-600x450.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\"  \/>Lots of different activities were happening on the lake this weekend. From ice fishing, to sports, to just strolling around, this frozen, icy environment stopped no one. Imagine being able to skate over a frozen Great Lake! Peeking through, you would be staring right at Lake Erie while standing on it! Surrounded by untouched snow, these ships look massive against the icy shores. While the sand gets covered by snow, the water gets roughly stopped in its tracks. The rough icy texture seen here is a result of the harsh waves.
