As Super Bowl LX approaches on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, local law enforcement and federal transportation safety officials are reminding Berks County residents to plan ahead and avoid impaired driving.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is partnering with Berks County Police through the \u201cFans Don\u2019t Let Fans Drive Drunk\u201d campaign, which emphasizes the importance of designated drivers and responsible hosting during Super Bowl celebrations.<\/p>\n
Officials are encouraging anyone attending a Super Bowl party to arrange for a sober ride in advance, whether by selecting a designated driver, using a taxi, or booking a rideshare. Hosts are being advised to provide plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverage options, particularly for designated drivers, and to remind guests to make transportation plans before drinking.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuper Bowl is a special event each year for our community to come together to celebrate, but we need responsible drivers on our roads,\u201d said Sergeant David Bentz, Exeter Township Police Department and Berks County coordinator for the North Central Regional DUI Enforcement Program. \u201cIf you are planning to be away from home during Super Bowl LX, make a game plan to ensure you don\u2019t find yourself without a designated driver if you need one. If you\u2019re hosting a party, take care of your designated drivers. Remind your friends and family: Fans Don\u2019t Let Fans Drive Drunk.\u201d<\/p>\n
The campaign also highlights legal risks associated with serving alcohol to minors. According to the release, it is illegal to provide alcohol to anyone under 21, and individuals who supply alcohol to underage drinkers could be held liable for any damage, injury, or death caused if that person later drives.<\/p>\n
Designated drivers are being encouraged to remain completely sober throughout the evening and to help others who may not have made a safe plan to get home.<\/p>\n
Local authorities are also asking community members to report suspected impaired drivers to law enforcement.<\/p>\n
Officials concluded their message with a simple reminder: \u201cDrive 100% sober, because Fans Don\u2019t Let Fans Drive Drunk.\u201d<\/p>\n
