DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 The Lackawanna County Coroner has officially ruled the death of a Dunmore man who was shot Sunday evening as a homicide.<\/p>\n
Coroner Tim Rowland identified the victim as 47-year-old Frederick Zantowsky Jr. of Dunmore. Rowland said Zantowsky died from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was wounded at his home in Dunmore and later died at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.<\/p>\n
Dunmore Borough police were called to a residence in the 400 block of Mortimer Street for a reported domestic disturbance. Zantowsky was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher previously stated that Zantowsky was intoxicated at the time of the incident and allegedly pointed a firearm at family members, including his son and an 8-year-old child. Authorities say Zantowsky\u2019s son fired one shot, striking him.<\/p>\n
The district attorney\u2019s office is continuing to review the case, including a possible \u201cdefense of others\u201d claim.<\/p>\n
