Philadelphia<\/a> has always taken care of its own.<\/p>\n On Feb. 15, that spirit rises to the surface with the 215 Day of Giving\u2014an annual call for Philadelphians to show up for people and organizations doing the work that keeps communities moving forward.<\/p>\n For Darrien Johnson, giving back to Philadelphia isn\u2019t just a campaign \u2014 it\u2019s personal. Known as The Community Curator, Johnson has spent years helping neighborhoods across the city, and this Sunday, she\u2019s channeling that same determination into the 215 Day of Giving, a moment designed to uplift the organizations and people holding Philly together year-round.<\/p>\n Johnson\u2019s commitment to the city was seen in previous summers through a smoothie truck, rolling through North Philadelphia with free fruit and healthy options during the heat. When the truck was vandalized and repairs became impossible, the program came to an end\u2014but the setback didn\u2019t slow her goal.<\/p>\n \u201cPhiladelphia raised me. Everything I do is about giving back to the people who made me,\u201d says Johnson. \u201cCommunity work isn\u2019t always pretty or protected, but it\u2019s always necessary. Even when something is taken from us, like my smoothie truck, the mission doesn\u2019t stop.\u201d<\/p>\n As a release notes, through the 215 Day of Giving, Johnson is mobilizing Philadelphians to donate, volunteer, and amplify the local nonprofits doing critical work across the city, from education and health to arts, advocacy, and economic empowerment.<\/p>\n \u201cThis day is about reminding ourselves that our greatest resource has always been each other,\u201d Johnson adds. \u201cWhen Philly shows up for Philly, real change happens.\u201d<\/p>\n To deepen engagement, the 215 Day of Giving will host an in-person Community Town Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at The Excelsior School of Philadelphia (2106 Haines St.) The event will unite nonprofit leaders, investors, community members, and media partners for an open dialogue focused on collective impact, cross-sector collaboration, and the future of community-driven giving in Philadelphia. Locals can also donate directly to make an impact online.\u00a0<\/p>\n Then, on Sunday, locals can celebrate all the music, food, art, and experiences that define Philly culture with Philly 215 Day. Attendees will enjoy exclusive deals, giveaways, and special dishes across the city\u2014all designed to make it easy to explore, support, and celebrate local businesses.<\/p>\n Throughout the day, Philadelphians will find \u00a0$2.15 tacos, coffees, and beers from restaurants and bars, along with gift cards and prizes from dozens of businesses, wellness experiences, and cultural institutions. Attendees can RSVP for exclusive access to these offers, and according to Do215 General Manager Ellei Johndro, the holiday is designed to celebrate both the historic and evolving cultural fabric of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n New for 2026, the festivities will culminate in the 215 Day Major Rager at Warehouse on Watts (923 N Watts St.) at 7 p.m. This grand finale will feature Philly artists (including Rob Paine, SYLO, GINA, and Shearn), immersive art activations, theatrical performances, costume contests, and two floors of dancing. Attendees are also encouraged to dress as their favorite Philly icons or mascots for the affair.
