PITTSBURGH (July 15, 2025) \u2014 Constellation announced commitments to spend billions of dollars on nuclear energy projects to fuel economic growth in Pennsylvania during the state\u2019s inaugural Energy and Innovation Summit, which was hosted by Sen. Dave McCormick and Carnegie Mellon University. The event was attended by President Donald Trump, key members of his cabinet, Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. John Fetterman, Rep. John Joyce, other members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation and a bipartisan list of state legislative leaders. Also attending were dozens of top leaders in energy, artificial intelligence experts, labor leaders and investors from around the globe, among other guests.<\/p>\n
The leadership of state and federal officials and the action of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission earlier this year will allow the company to accelerate the restart of the Crane Clean Energy Center, which is now expected to return to service in 2027 \u2014 about a year ahead of schedule. The plant will generate electricity into the 2050s and will add approximately 835 megawatts of reliable energy to the grid in Pennsylvania. The project also will create 3,400 jobs, deliver $3.6 billion in tax revenue and add $16 billion to the state\u2019s GDP.<\/p>\n
Constellation, which employs 2,500 people in the state, has asked the NRC to renew the operating license of the\u00a0Peach Bottom Clean Energy Center to run until at least 2054, resulting in approximately\u00a030 million person-hours of work over two decades and providing electricity valued in\u00a0the tens of billions of dollars. Finally, Constellation is planning to operate the Limerick\u00a0Clean Energy Center well into the 2040s and is working to secure customer\u00a0commitments to increase its capacity by an additional 340 megawatts.<\/p>\n

The energy summit showcased Pennsylvania\u2019s potential to serve as a hub for AI innovation and create high-paying job opportunities across the state.<\/p>\n
