Nick Castellanos\u2019 days in Philadelphia appear numbered.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The veteran outfielder remains on the Phillies\u2019 roster, \u201cbut there is no locker in the clubhouse for him,\u201d per The Athletic\u2019s Matt Gelb<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Phillies told the 33-year-old outfielder \u201cnot to report to the team\u2019s complex this week,\u201d Gelb added, as they look to get off his contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Castellanos is expected to be traded or released \u201cin the next two days.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a long winter for Castellanos, who was reportedly on his way out of Philly in October shortly after the team was eliminated by the Dodgers in the National League Division Series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That was all but confirmed after the Phillies signed Adolis Garcia<\/a>, leaving little room for a player like Castellanos on a roster full of other slow-footed sluggers like Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last season, Castellanos, who turns 34 next month, posted full-season lows with a .250 average and an on-base percentage of .294.<\/p>\n

The two-time All-Star also posted a career-worst negative-1.0 WAR.<\/p>\n

He is due $20 million in 2026 in the fifth and final year of his $100 million pact with the Phillies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Castellanos also appeared to be butting heads with manager Rob Thomson during the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After Castellano was pulled from a late August game<\/a> for the slick-fielding Harrison Bader, he appeared to call out Thomson, saying there was \u201cno conversation\u201d about the move.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In June, Castellanos was benched one game for an \u201cinappropriate comment\u201d to Thomson<\/a> after getting taken out of a game against the Marlins.\u00a0<\/p>\n
