{"id":112313,"date":"2026-02-12T19:51:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:51:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/112313\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T19:51:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T19:51:12","slug":"erie-cop-out-of-a-job-after-encouraging-killing-of-ice-agents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/112313\/","title":{"rendered":"Erie cop out of a job after encouraging killing of ICE agents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BOULDER COUNTY\u2013An Erie police officer is out of a job after posting an anti-ICE comment condoning violence on social media, seeming to encourage the murder of federal immigration officers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erie is a statutory town of around 40,000 residents straddling both Weld and Boulder counties in northern Colorado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Haili Hazel-Shimko, was engaging in a social media post in late January when she told another individual online that shooting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in the head is the most effective way to kill them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shimko was replying to a comment that reads, \u201cGood way to get a couple holes in their chest,\u201d in reference to ICE agents. <a href=\"https:\/\/completecolorado.com\/?attachment_id=26769\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shimko replied<\/a>, \u201cThey wear armor so headshots would work better\u201d (see Figure 1).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/completecolorado.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2026-02-05-at-10.48.12\u202fAM-2.png\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26769\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Screenshot-2026-02-05-at-10.48.12\u202fAM-2-300x279.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"279\"  \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Fig. 1. Click to enlarge<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Erie officer was entering her sixth year on the force, and was even given the \u201cTop Gun\u201d achievement award during her time at the police academy in 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Soon after Shimko posted her comment, a <a href=\"https:\/\/completecolorado.com\/?attachment_id=26770\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">resident reported her actions<\/a> to the Erie Police Department.
