With its French-inspired cuisine and castlesque design, Hyeholde Restaurant<\/a> in Coraopolis seems like something straight out of a fairy tale \u2014 but even a princess enjoys a laidback pub every now and then.<\/p>\n

Well, hear ye, hear ye, Your Highness: The Tavern at Hyeholde<\/a> is now accepting reservations.<\/p>\n

Located inside the property\u2019s historic carriage house (known to longtime guests as Q\u2019s), The Tavern offers a different experience from the main dining room. The space is reminiscent of a classic European pub, with dark wood interiors, low ceilings, a roaring fireplace and a welcoming bar. It\u2019s kind of like Gaston\u2019s favorite watering hole in Disney\u2019s \u201cBeauty and the Beast.\u201d<\/p>\n

The menu includes smoked cod chowder, veal osso buco with creamy polenta and a lamb cassoulet with cranberry beans, alongside charcuterie and cheese boards. The Tavern will host a fish fry every Friday from Feb. 20 through March 27. Guests can reel in a tempura cod sandwich topped with malt vinegar slaw and a side of truffle chips, plus their choice of two house-brewed Hyeholde Grisette tables beers or two glasses of house red wine.<\/p>\n

In other semi-regal related news, Kingfly Spirits<\/a> has closed its doors in the Strip District.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter seven years of many ups, downs and alllll arounds, the team here at Kingfly toasts you for the last time. As of today (Feb. 11), we are moving on to the next chapter of life and could not be more grateful for your friendship, patronage, support and celebration of what we did together,\u201d the owners said in a social media post.<\/p>\n

The Smallman Street distillery, bar, live music venue and event space opened on Groundhog Day 2019 also in an old carriage house. Originally built in 1906, the 11,000-square-foot \u201curban barn\u201d on Smallman Street was saved from the wrecking ball, landing the owners a Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Award.<\/p>\n
