LEESPORT, Pa. – Schuylkill Valley Elementary School dismissed students early on Monday and canceled classes on Tuesday after a heating failure affected several areas of the building.<\/p>\n
The Principal\u2019s Office told 69 News that there are 12 classrooms without heat, and several leaking pipes contributed to the issue.<\/p>\n
Students and staff were able to return to class on Wednesday due to the installation of portable heating units. In the meantime, TRANE and other companies are making repairs to restore heat throughout the entire building.<\/p>\n
Acting Superintendent Dr. Patrick T. Winters released a statement notifying the families of the students:<\/p>\n
\u201cTRANE has assessed the heating issues in the building and has determined what needs fixed and addressed. The district has developed a plan in conjunction with TRANE to complete the necessary repairs.
