PITTSBURGH \u2014 Cars parked in several Pittsburgh neighborhoods were vandalized.<\/p>\n
Several cars had their windows smashed out on Wednesday morning in the city\u2019s Duquesne Heights neighborhood.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t the morning Karen Graff was hoping to have.<\/p>\n
\u201cI came out and there was glass everywhere, glass inside and I\u2019m thinking, \u2018I have a thousand things to do today. Please don\u2019t tell me this,\u201d Graff said.<\/p>\n
She woke up on Wednesday to find the rear window of her Kia Sportage smashed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy husband went to work yesterday morning and popped his head in the door and said, \u2018Hey, the windshield is busted on the back of your car. You might want to look at that,\u201d Graff said.<\/p>\n
She quickly learned that she wasn\u2019t the only one. Several neighbors in Duquesne Heights and Mount Washington say the same thing happened to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe neighborhood Facebook, Instagram posts came up and somebody said, \u2018Oh i live on Kearsage, somebody knocked out a window,\u2019 and somebody else said, \u2018Oh yeah, me too and then it\u2019s like, that\u2019s too much of a coincidence,\u201d Graff said.<\/p>\n
Nothing was taken from her car, but all of the cars targeted appear to have one thing in common.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll Kias that we know of. They were all Kias,\u201d<\/p>\n
In November, Pittsburgh police warned of a spike in car break-ins involving Kias and Hyundais.<\/p>\n
They said thieves try to exploit a previous security flaw in some models, popularized in a viral TikTok challenge.<\/p>\n
For Graff, she\u2019s now out $500.<\/p>\n
She has one question for whoever did this.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy? What did you get out of it? We all have to pay for the damages and clean up,\u201d Graff said.<\/p>\n
We have reached out to Pittsburgh Public Safety to find out where the investigation stands and how many vehicles have been targeted.<\/p>\n
So far, we have not heard back.<\/p>\n
