Mom Chaffe’s Cellarette<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201cI’ve been here for 47 years. The restaurant itself has been here for 90,\u201d said owner John Lehman.<\/p>\n
Since 1936, Mom Chaffe\u2019s has been a romantic destination for lovers.<\/p>\n
Lehman says Valentine\u2019s is not just a day.<\/p>\n
“It’s almost like a little bit of a Valentine season,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
And this year, it\u2019s on a Saturday.<\/p>\n
“We’re not normally open on a Sunday, but because it was on a Saturday night, we decided we’d be open on Sunday as well,\u201d Lehman said.<\/p>\n
If you want to score your seat at Mom Chaffe\u2019s on Valentine\u2019s Day, you need to plan ahead.<\/p>\n
“The very popular times at the restaurant \u20145, 5:30, 6, 6:30 \u2014 basically are gone by New Year’s Eve,\u201d Lehman said.<\/p>\n
Those who don\u2019t make reservations in advance are usually out of luck.<\/p>\n
“Without exaggeration, I’d say more than a thousand have been refused,\u201d Lehman said.<\/p>\n
This staple in Berks County is serving hundreds, struck by cupid each night.<\/p>\n
“It’s warm, it’s cozy, it’s good for couples,\u201d Lehman said. \u201cIt’s like a date night sort of place.”<\/p>\n
The restaurant does its part to prepare for the busy occasion.<\/p>\n
“My chefs are really pretty, pretty proficient at that,\u201d Lehman said. \u201cThey really know what to do\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
The goal is for everyone to leave with full stomachs and smiles on their faces.<\/p>\n
