Upper Darby took home a gold medal and a meet record from the Delaware Valley Girls Track Coaches Association Meet of Champions on Friday night at Penn.<\/p>\n
The Royals\u2019 4 x 200 quartet of Ovviya Lauderdale, Tajai Powell, Marziah Jones and Kadi Golembiewski won in 1:42.39. That downs the meet record set way back in 2010 by West Catholic at 1:42.69. UD was 1.61 seconds up on runner-up Pennridge.<\/p>\n
Powell finished third in the 200 meters in 25.35. Golembiewski was seventh in the 400. The Royals also netted a silver medal from Janaye Haye, whose leap of 37 feet, \u00be inches came within 2.5 inches of winning the triple jump.<\/p>\n
Upper Darby\u2019s record highlighted the sprint depth from Delco. Chester\u2019s Damira Allen won the 60-meter hurdles in 8.50 seconds. That lowers her Ott Center record by a tenth and brushes within 0.07 of the meet record. Allen finished sixth in the 200 meters in 25.49.<\/p>\n
Second to Allen in the hurdles was Garnet Valley\u2019s Felicia Grimmelbein in 8.66 seconds. The senior led a GV 1-2 in the 60-meter dash, Grimmelbein setting the program record at 7.53 seconds and edging her teammate Avery McCrimon\u2019s 7.73. Those two joined Brigid Sullivan and Kara Sullivan to finish third in the 4 x 200 relay in 1:44.18.<\/p>\n
Ridley finished second in the girls 4 x 400 relay in 4:01.82, just under a second behind Central Bucks East\u2019s winning time. Joy Onyewuchi led the way, having finished fourth in the 400 in 57.98. She joined Paula Onyewuchi, Maya Bathrant and Ericka Chiles.<\/p>\n
Penncrest finished in the top five in two relays. The 4 x 800 placed third in 9:43.04. Cassidy Jones, Bailey McDonald and Maddy Ruday were on both that squad and the fifth-place 4 x 400. Jones was eighth in the mile.<\/p>\n
Agnes Irwin won a pair of medals, with Lauriel Morrison\u2019s time of 2:16.76 securing second place in the 800. Emma Watson was third in the mile.<\/p>\n
Strath Haven finished fourth in the 4 x 800 and fourth in the distance medley relay.<\/p>\n
Chester Charter Scholars Academy\u2019s Angel White finished fifth in the 60-meter dash.
