Our suburban reporters want to hear from you! <a href=\"#Section1\">Ask us a question or send an idea for a story you think we should cover.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>Upper Darby Parking Enforcement Director Sekela Coles stepped down from her role on Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer <a href=\"https:\/\/whyy.org\/articles\/upper-darby-parking-director-theft-charges\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">alleged Coles diverted parking meter funds<\/a> and used it as \u201cpetty cash\u201d to pay for \u201cfood, birthday cakes, office parties, and restaurant trips\u201d for herself and staff.\n<\/p>\n<p>Coles was previously placed on paid administrative leave, however, that action was short-lived. Andrew Edelberg, Coles\u2019 defense attorney, said Upper Darby\u2019s legal team sent a letter to his client on Tuesday outlining the various charges and laying out the potential for further disciplinary action. They asked Coles for an answer by the day\u2019s end.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that the township and the mayor and the parties would have simply terminated her,\u201d Edelberg said. \u201cShe\u2019s not protected by a union.\u201c\n<\/p>\n<p>He added that his client had some accrued personal time.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it was agreed that if she were to resign, she would be entitled to that time, which is a little less than a month\u2019s pay,\u201d Edelberg said.\n<\/p>\n<p>WHYY News reached out to Upper Darby co-Chief Administrative Officer Alison Dobbins for a comment, but did not immediately receive a response.\n        <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Got a question about life in Philly\u2019s suburbs?
