Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Sports League (WPIAL \u2014 PIAA\u2019s District 7) realignment of classifications for the 2026 and 2027 Fall Sports cycles, including for boys and girls soccer will be reviewed and finalized in the next Board of Directors\u2019 meeting.<\/p>\n

Check out the full breakdown below to find Pittsburgh Soccer Now\u2018s complete realignment per classification projections for the next two seasons.<\/p>\n

PSN\u2019s projections are based on PIAA\u2019s most updated boys<\/a> and girls<\/a> enrollment numbers released in late November, the new cycle will see some movement of schools up and down in classifications for 2026 and 2027, while there are also a few schools which may or may not elect to remain in higher classifications.\u00a0 That remains to be seen.\u00a0 In recent years, some schools including Peters Township and Shady Side Academy boys elected to keep their schools in a higher classification despite enrollment numbers for lower classification.<\/p>\n

John Krysinsky has covered soccer and other sports for many years for various publications and media outlets. He is also author of ‘Miracle on the Mon’ — a book about the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, which chronicles the club, particularly the early years of Highmark Stadium with the narrative leading up to and centered around a remarkable match that helped provide a spark for the franchise. John has covered sports for Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, DK Pittsburgh Sports, Pittsburgh Sports Report, has served as color commentator on Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC broadcasts, and worked with OPTA Stats and broadcast teams for US Open Cup and International Champions Cup matches held in the US. Krysinsky also served as the Head Men\u2019s Soccer Coach at his alma mater, Point Park University, where he led the Pioneers to the first-ever winning seasons and playoff berths (1996-98); head coach of North Catholic boys (2007-08), associate head coach of Shady Side Academy boys (2009-2014).<\/p>\n
