Scranton <\/a>are preparing for a busy day. \u00a0Today is the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” event. “Give Kids a Smile is a free community dental event sponsored by the ADA that provides free dental preventative services to children up to the age of 17.” Said second year student Nildaliz Rolon.<\/p>\nChildren will get cleanings, x-rays, and exams, courtesy of the dental hygiene students at Fortis Institute. “I’m excited to see the flow of everything, how it’s going to go. \u00a0I’m excited to meet the patients, the children.” Said Chrismery Santana, another student at Fortis Institute.<\/p>\n
The Dental Hygiene students we spoke with are excited for the event. Including Rolon, who said the event is a win-win. “It helps a lot of the children, especially those who are low-income that don’t have access to those dental services, as well as those who are not English-speaking and have difficulty scheduling appointments. \u00a0And then it also helps us get the experience.”<\/p>\n
