The February edition of\u00a0First Friday<\/a>\u00a0focuses on the effort and ingenuity of UPMC teams and individuals who work to provide compassionate care amid complicated, rapidly changing times.<\/p>\n

Health care professionals face unique and unpredictable risks, often\u00a0while supporting patients and families during the most stressful\u00a0moments of their lives. For teams to provide compassionate,\u00a0high-quality care, they must feel and truly be safe each day.\u00a0The responsibility for a safe environment extends beyond the patient\u00a0to every member of the health care workforce \u2014 frontline caregivers,\u00a0support staff, and clinical leaders alike. At UPMC, safety is a lived\u00a0commitment, continuously practiced and re-evaluated to address\u00a0both patient and worker needs. As the organization continues its\u00a0focus on safety, the collective efforts of these individuals are vital\u00a0to building a safer space for everyone involved in care.\u00a0<\/p>\n
