Jabari Walker should return to action soon \u2014 and on a new contract.<\/p>\n
The Sixers intend to sign Walker to a two-year deal, ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania<\/a> reported Monday night.<\/p>\n The 23-year-old power forward\u2019s status had been in limbo because he\u2019d reached the two-way contract limit of being active for 50 NBA games. He\u2019d been inactive for the Sixers\u2019 last four before the All-Star break.\u00a0<\/p>\n Both Walker and Dominick Barlow<\/a> started the season on two-way deals and earned standard NBA contracts. Walker\u2019s appeared in 45 games and averaged 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per contest. Though he\u2019s flashed outside shooting ability, Walker\u2019s numbers are subpar on that front (27.0 percent beyond the arc). However, he\u2019s been up for any task, rebounded at an excellent rate<\/a> and ultimately proven to the Sixers that he merits more than a two-way contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cJust the idea and the plan I have for myself, I didn\u2019t see two-way at all,\u201d Walker said at his introductory press conference in July. \u201cI didn\u2019t think that would be a position I was in, but the market and just feedback, it doesn\u2019t lie. So whether that\u2019s things I need to be doing better or whether that\u2019s just the situation, it all led to me being here.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m just grateful for this moment because a lot of people don\u2019t even have this. I\u2019m friends with former teammates that aren\u2019t even in the league anymore.
