{"id":117184,"date":"2026-02-18T16:04:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/117184\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T16:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:04:08","slug":"lanta-sets-date-for-fare-increase-allentown-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/117184\/","title":{"rendered":"LANTA sets date for fare increase | Allentown Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ALLENTOWN, Pa.- LANTA has set the date for its first fare increase in more than a decade.<\/p>\n<p>The new rates will take effect on Monday, March 23.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new structure, a single ride will cost $2.50 instead of $2.00.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A day pass will increase from $4 to $5.<\/p>\n<p>A 31-day pass will cost $70, up from $60.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lantabus.com\/fares\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LANTA&#8217;s website<\/a> has a complete list of the changes.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the transit agency is eliminating transfers currently issued on board its buses.<\/p>\n<p>The Senior Pass (for those 65+) will remain free.<\/p>\n<p>LANTA last increased the price of a single ride 18 years ago; multi-ride prices went up in 2014.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>LANTA said the fare hike is needed to\u00a0keep pace with inflation and maintain a sustainable transit system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ALLENTOWN, Pa.- LANTA has set the date for its first fare increase in more than a decade.
