{"id":119007,"date":"2026-02-20T12:10:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T12:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/119007\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T12:10:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T12:10:26","slug":"six-flags-begins-building-new-record-breaking-roller-coaster-nbc10-philadelphia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/119007\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Flags begins building new \u2018record-breaking\u2019 roller coaster \u2013 NBC10 Philadelphia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six Flags Great Adventure began building its newest roller coaster on Wednesday, which will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/six-flags-great-adventure-kingda-ka-implosion-live-new-jersey-jackson-township\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/news\/local\/six-flags-great-adventure-kingda-ka-implosion-live-new-jersey-jackson-township\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the \u201cmulti-world-record-breaking launch roller coaster\u201d promised<\/a> to fans after Kingda Ka was demolished in Feb. 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Kingda Ka, which debuted in 2005. was the fastest and tallest roller coaster in the world, and a favorite among thrill-seekers. It would take guests 45 stories in the air and launch from zero to 128 miles per hour in mere seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The park in Jackson, New Jersey, received its first sections of purple track for the new ride on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Welcome to the next chapter. \ud83c\udfa2 \ud83d\udc9c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AdventureAwakens?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#AdventureAwakens<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SFGAD2027?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#SFGAD2027<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FJZLs4Xtxs\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/FJZLs4Xtxs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Six Flags Great Adventure (@SFGrAdventure) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SFGrAdventure\/status\/2024182342764376159?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">February 18, 2026<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>The name and layout of the new attraction has yet to be announced, but park officials said they were building the new ride after they announced the demolition of Kingda Ka, as well as another coaster, Green Lantern. <\/p>\n<p>Both coasters were demolished in 2025. <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSix Flags Great Adventure&#8217;s Kingda Ka is no more after the iconic roller coaster was imploded on Feb. 28, 2025. News12 New Jersey captured the moment it came down.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Officials said more updates on the attraction will be provided as development continues.<\/p>\n<p>Six Flags Great Adventure also has several smaller new additions debuting in 2026. <\/p>\n<p>The park\u2019s \u201cSafari Off-Road Adventure\u201d will return to being included in the price of admission. Visitors will board safari vehicles directly from a dedicated in-park loading station, just as they did before 2020, when the Safari returned to a drive through attraction.<\/p>\n<p>For this year\u2019s season, Great Adventure officials also said that there will be expanded live entertainment, dining upgrades and major track improvements to its signature \u201cEl Toro\u201d wooden roller coaster.
