The National Weather Service<\/a> (NWS) reported the ice closest to Buffalo is \u201cfast ice,\u201d which, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center<\/a> is a type of ice that is anchored to the shore and does not move with winds or currents. The NWS also reported the estimated thickness was between 12-28 inches.
