Reading Hospital and local organizations team up for an annual education event about puberty and periods on Saturday, Feb. 21.<\/p>\n

From Reading Hospital \u2013 Tower Health<\/p>\n

Reading Hospital is again partnering with The Junior League of Reading and Berks Teens to host \u201cLet\u2019s Talk, Period,\u201d a popular event focused on menstrual equity and period positivity for teens and tweens.<\/p>\n

The free event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences, 1025 Old Wyomissing Road, West Reading. Youth in grades 3-8 and a trusted adult are invited to attend. Space is limited, and registration is required.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re creating a safe space where doctors provide age-appropriate information, helping attendees feel comfortable asking questions and confident about the changes they will experience,\u201d said Dr. Olubunmi Ojikutu, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Reading Hospital and event panelist.<\/p>\n

Other panelists include Dr. Nina Duke, Tower Health Medical Group Pediatrics \u2013 Wyomissing, and Junior League of Reading member Dr. Jennifer Mueller, Dermatologist, Clear Dermatology.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis judgment-free, stigma-breaking event brings real medical professionals together for an honest, down-to-earth conversation about puberty and periods,\u201d said Jenna Hiester, President, The Junior League of Reading. \u201cIt\u2019s all about giving you the facts, boosting your confidence, and sharing tips to help you feel strong, informed, and ready for the next chapter of growing up. \u201d<\/p>\n

Light refreshments will be served, and every attendee will receive a period pampering kit containing menstrual products, personal care items, informational materials, and giveaways. Items were donated by Godiva Chocolatier, Clear Dermatology, Co-County Wellness, DoubleTree Reading, and Giant.<\/p>\n

Attendees interested in giving back are also encouraged to participate in \u201cBra-nanza\u201d by donating new or gently used bras of all sizes and styles, which will be collected at the event and distributed to local agencies supporting those in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cPuberty is a time of great change for young women, both inside and out,\u201d Dr. Mueller said. \u201cWe are so happy to be playing a role in providing education to destigmatize discussions around our bodies.\u201d<\/p>\n
