Work has started on a massive project to replace the seats at Acrisure Stadium, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to video posted to social media.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County, which owns the stadium, approved a a $6.2 million expenditure last October for the first phase of the project, and work has already begun replacing seats in the east upper deck of the stadium.<\/p>\n

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette<\/a>, the Steelers intend to replace 58,719 of Acrisure Stadium\u2019s 68,400 seats by 2028, for a total cost of $17.8 million. The first phase of the replacement project, which is just getting underway, will replace 22,236 seats in the North Shore stadium over the next two years.<\/p>\n

Nearly all of the seats are original to the stadium, according to SEA project executive Doug Straley. The stadium opened in 2001.<\/p>\n

The SEA\u2019s facility condition assessment firm, Stantec, reported several issues with the seats over the last five years, including detachment from the stadium\u2019s concrete, rusting, broken bolts and inoperable handicap seating, Straley said.<\/p>\n

Maine-based Hussey Seating Company will make the new seats, and they will come with a 10-year warranty.<\/p>\n

The upgrade is among a slew of new features at Acrisure Stadium with the 2026 NFL Draft coming up. <\/p>\n

Acrisure Stadium received significant upgrades<\/a> for the 2025 season, including a new outdoor football field <\/a>near Gate A, an upgraded Wi-Fi system, new videoboards, and expanded food and beverage options with self-checkout markets. A new charging station was added near section 527, and the stadium\u2019s mobile app was updated with a virtual assistant. Additional security measures include bollards to prevent vehicle crashes.<\/p>\n

The Steelers also have added a new team entry video and upgraded graphics package that will enhance the pre-game experience and scoreboard shows.<\/p>\n

Last fall, the Steelers also unveiled plans<\/a> for a new lounge<\/a> coming to Acrisure Stadium next year. The lounge will be called the 1933 Club, honoring the year the Steelers were founded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s designed to address the desire of the most loyal Steelers fans for an elevated gameday experience by featuring upscale services and amenities and exclusive opportunities to get closer to the players,\u201d the Steelers wrote in a press release.<\/p>\n

The club will intertwine comfort, modern elegance, and sophistication, offering members a speakeasy environment that includes:<\/p>\n
