{"id":120690,"date":"2026-02-22T18:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T18:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/120690\/"},"modified":"2026-02-22T18:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T18:36:09","slug":"pa-snowstorm-2026-where-and-when-it-will-hit-hardest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/120690\/","title":{"rendered":"Pa. snowstorm 2026: Where and when it will hit hardest?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2VR2PEFLRRDVHO2QNR444GTO4M\">More snow is in the cards for Pennsylvania, and in some places across the state, the storm could set records for total accumulation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3JGPKBCXL5B57G2DOMXDF3GB3U\">A storm driven by a coastal low-pressure system will rapidly deepen off the East Coast, tracking from the Outer Banks Sunday morning northward to approximately 125 nautical miles east of Salisbury, Maryland, by Sunday evening. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FYN4HAJHHRBKPAL63A25PGMLCU\">Here\u2019s where the storm is going to hit hardest, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VVXY7VJU6FB3PEKUMS3ES5MH2I\">The easternmost parts of the state are under a blizzard warning, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ104&amp;warncounty=PAC091&amp;firewxzone=PAZ104&amp;local_place1=Spring%20House%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=40.1836&amp;lon=-75.2264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ104&amp;warncounty=PAC091&amp;firewxzone=PAZ104&amp;local_place1=Spring%20House%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=40.1836&amp;lon=-75.2264\">Philadelphia area and its northern suburbs<\/a> and in Carbon and Monroe counties in the <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ055&amp;warncounty=PAC089&amp;firewxzone=PAZ055&amp;local_place1=Pocono%20Mountains%20Municipal%20Airport%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=41.14&amp;lon=-75.38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ055&amp;warncounty=PAC089&amp;firewxzone=PAZ055&amp;local_place1=Pocono%20Mountains%20Municipal%20Airport%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=41.14&amp;lon=-75.38\">Poconos region<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WRS64ULHWJBMTDZUEKHPQTGDOE\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ059&amp;warncounty=PAC075&amp;firewxzone=PAZ059&amp;local_place1=Annville%20PA&amp;product1=Winter+Storm+Warning&amp;lat=40.3325&amp;lon=-76.5066\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ059&amp;warncounty=PAC075&amp;firewxzone=PAZ059&amp;local_place1=Annville%20PA&amp;product1=Winter+Storm+Warning&amp;lat=40.3325&amp;lon=-76.5066\">winter storm warning <\/a>is in place across most of central Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, Gettysburg State College, Altoona, Lock Haven, and Johnstown. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"AQ4KDHD7PVA5NNMVA22DZ62NYQ\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ046&amp;warncounty=PAC081&amp;firewxzone=PAZ046&amp;local_place1=2%20Miles%20S%20Lairdsville%20PA&amp;product1=Winter+Weather+Advisory&amp;lat=41.2005&amp;lon=-76.6091\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ046&amp;warncounty=PAC081&amp;firewxzone=PAZ046&amp;local_place1=2%20Miles%20S%20Lairdsville%20PA&amp;product1=Winter+Weather+Advisory&amp;lat=41.2005&amp;lon=-76.6091\">winter weather advisory<\/a> is in place in the north-central parts of the state, while western Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh will remain largely unaffected. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"E7TXU255IBE47NZDXCZ2KZKDGI\">In central Pa., snow mixed with rain will fall throughout the afternoon, with a high around 37 degrees. Daytime snow accumulation of around an inch is possible, but it\u2019s after the sun sets and the temperatures drop that the heaviest accumulation is most likely. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"L74SYBUPH5EANM3ERV5SVZBCDA\">The nighttime low is around 30, with wind gusts as high as 26 mph. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches is possible, falling before 5 a.m. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2S5563CFQBCDTL6L57NODGYO4M\">More snow could fall before 7 a.m. Monday, with patchy blowing snow continuing until around noon as winds gust to around 40 mph. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771785369_535_inmasirPA_.gif\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3EMV2KHNEBGFXLZL74N4SXOHWQ\">Total snowfall is expected to reach 6 to 12 inches, with the highest accumulations predicted in the southern and eastern sections of York and Lancaster counties<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KKXKHS3FYRBSFKGVA2RAZETQPA\">In eastern Pennsylvania, precipitation will become all snow after 2 p.m., with total daytime accumulation of around an inch possible as temperatures remain above freezing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5FAKDWUP25EE7EM5BDZQAXYG4E\">As night falls, <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ105&amp;warncounty=PAC017&amp;firewxzone=PAZ105&amp;local_place1=Chalfont%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=40.2858&amp;lon=-75.2078\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=PAZ105&amp;warncounty=PAC017&amp;firewxzone=PAZ105&amp;local_place1=Chalfont%20PA&amp;product1=Blizzard+Warning&amp;lat=40.2858&amp;lon=-75.2078\">areas could see snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches<\/a> an hour and winds gusting past 45 mph.
