A 44-year-old Scranton man faces charges after police said he was driving a vehicle with a suspended license while under the influence of alcohol earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the intersection of Farr Street and North Everett Avenue on Feb. 11 for a report of an unconscious male in a vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Once on scene, police noticed Rodolfo Simon appeared to be heavily under the influence of alcohol and took him into custody, officers said.<\/p>\n
Police spotted two 40-ounce containers of alcohol in the center console of Simon\u2019s Chevrolet Avalanche \u2014 a can of Wicked Hard Cider that was open and appeared to be half consumed, and an unopened can of Twisted Tea, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
After Simon\u2019s vehicle was towed from the scene, officers saw that he was unsteady on his feet while walking, and they could smell alcohol on his breath, police said.<\/p>\n
Simon, observed by police to have puffy eyes, refused a blood test and was transported to the county\u2019s processing center, officers said.<\/p>\n
Police charged Simon, 518 Luzerne St., with DUI: highest rate of alcohol, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked\u2013DUI related, operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility, driving an unregistered vehicle and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection.<\/p>\n
