With the entire state under a blizzard warning for the first time since 1996, residents in Long Branch, New Jersey, spent the morning stocking up and bracing for what forecasters say could bring as much as 30 inches of snow. <\/p>\n
Benjamin Cohen, a resident and local doctor, said he made an early-morning run to the grocery store to prepare.<\/p>\n
\u201cI ran out at 7 a.m. to the supermarket and grabbed as much food as I could,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cFilled my car up with gas and I\u2019m going to enjoy not working tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n
He admits he wasn\u2019t ready for the last big storm.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t believe the last one, so I wasn\u2019t prepared. I learned from my mistake,\u201d he said, recalling sliding on icy roads. \u201cThis time I got what I need. I just have to get more water.\u201d<\/p>\n
Before the snow starts falling in earnest, he plans to enjoy brunch with friends. \u201cIt\u2019s not going to start until later, right?\u201d he said. \u201cThis is the calm before it all begins.\u201d<\/p>\n
George Nikolis, who has lived in the area for six years, echoed that sentiment.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy fianc\u00e9e and I stocked up on essentials for the next two to three days,\u201d he said. \u201cBased on the forecast, it looks like conditions will deteriorate quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n
