\t\t\tOBITUARY\t\t<\/p>\n
David A. Johnson, age 73, of Heidelberg Township, passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 2, 2025, surrounded by his family.<\/p>\n
David\u2019s kind and gentle nature brought joy to everyone around him. Even through his valiant battle with Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD), he always thought of others. His deep love was felt by his family and friends\u2014even when he was no longer able to communicate it. He will be greatly missed, but we find comfort in knowing he is watching over us with a sly grin and a twinkle in his eye. We are all better people for having known him, and we look forward to seeing him again one day.<\/p>\n
He was the loving husband of 51 years to Rebecca A. (Longenecker) Johnson.<\/p>\n
Born in Reading on August 8, 1951, David was the son of the late Edward L. and Evelyn (Beidler) Johnson. A 1970 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career with Norfolk Southern, retiring in 2011 after 35 years of service.<\/p>\n
David had a passion for antiquing, fly fishing, traveling, woodworking, and taking on outdoor projects around his home. But above all, he treasured time with his family\u2014especially his beloved grandson, James David.<\/p>\n
In addition to his wife, Rebecca, he is survived by his son, Travis L. Johnson; daughter, Tara L. Pantaleno (Michael); grandson, James David Pantaleno; and sister, Bonnie Kelchner (Larry). He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Johnson.<\/p>\n
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at The Bridge of Hope Church, 309 W. Franklin St., Womelsdorf. A visitation with the family will take place from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Church.<\/p>\n
Cole Funeral Home, Robesonia, is handling arrangements.<\/p>\n
