Shots were fired during an argument between two juveniles at Long Lane and Pine Street in Upper Darby on Sunday shortly before 3 p.m., resulting in the death of a 16-year-old.<\/p>\n

A teen male was seen by witnesses running from the scene, plus officers were also looking for a gray car.<\/p>\n
The victim died a short time after the shooting in Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.<\/p>\n
On Monday, police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said the suspect has not been located and police are asking the public\u2019s assistance in identifying the individual.<\/p>\n
Upper Darby Mayor Ed Brown issued a statement about the tragedy:<\/p>\n
\u201cLess than two months ago, I shared the heartbreaking news of the death of an Upper Darby High School student who was shot and killed.<\/p>\n
\u201cTragically, I find myself reaching out once again with similar, devastating news.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, another young life was lost, another Upper Darby student, just 16 years old, was shot and killed in our township.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to the victim\u2019s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and loved him. My heart breaks for your loss. There are no words that can ease your pain, but please know that you are not alone.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur entire community grieves with you.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese kinds of tragedies are becoming far too common, but that does not make them any less painful, or any more acceptable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe must come together as a community to ensure that people of all ages, especially our youth, feel safe, supported, and valued.<\/p>\n
\u201cViolence is never the answer. We have to do better. And we can do better, together.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s during times like these that we must come together and prioritize what matters most: life, community, and the safety of our youth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernhardt said police are actively working through the case and have strong intelligence and are in the process of developing a suspect.<\/p>\n
Police will be meeting with the family and hope to gather additional information about their son, specifically, who he may have been with or planning to meet yesterday.<\/p>\n
Police have also been in contact with Upper Darby School District, which he said have been a tremendous partner during this difficult time.<\/p>\n
Once the family has been interviewed and all next of kin have been notified, police will release the name of the victim.<\/p>\n
