From City of Reading<\/p>\n
The City of Reading announced on Monday, Feb. 23, its official proclamation recognizing Black History Month and reaffirmed the City\u2019s commitment to honoring the history, culture, and contributions of Black Americans in Reading and across the nation.<\/p>\n
As part of this observance, beginning Monday evening, Reading City Hall will be illuminated in red, yellow, and green, the Pan-African colors representing unity, pride, and heritage. The Pagoda will also be lit in these colors as a visual acknowledgment of the month.<\/p>\n
Mayor Eddie Mor\u00e1n said, \u201cBlack history is American history. This recognition and the lighting of City Hall and the Pagoda reflect Reading\u2019s commitment to honoring the contributions of Black residents and leaders who have shaped our community. We encourage residents to take this time to learn, reflect, and engage.\u201d<\/p>\n
