BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem Area School District says Superintendent Jack Silva will retire at the end of the 2025\u20132026 school year, after serving as head of the district for three years.<\/p>\n
Dr. Silva\u2019s retirement will be effective July 1, BASD said in a news release Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Board of School Directors will share additional information regarding the superintendent search process in the coming weeks, the district said.<\/p>\n
The district said Silva will continue to serve as superintendent through June 30.<\/p>\n
Silva will complete 40 years of service in public education, including the past three years as Superintendent of Schools, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
The district says he shared his decision with the board well in advance to allow for a thoughtful and smooth leadership transition.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the coming months, Dr. Silva will continue to lead the district with his characteristic focus on student success, staff support, and strong community partnerships,\u201d the district said in its news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cServing the Bethlehem Area School District has been the greatest honor of my professional life,\u201d said Dr. Silva.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach day, I have had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary educators, staff, families, and community partners who believe deeply in our students. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together and remain confident in the district\u2019s future as we work toward a strong finish to this school year.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDr. Silva has led the Bethlehem Area School District with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to students,\u201d said Board President Michael Faccinetto.<\/p>\n
