EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) \u2014 Funding that went to help purchase safety lights and headlamps for a Pennsylvania wildfire crew has been awarded through an energy logistics company.<\/p>\n
A grant of $5,096 was awarded to the Dividing Ridge Wildfire Support Crew Tuesday, through the Energy Transfer First Responder Fund. The fund provides grants to fulfill the missions of first responder organizations like local fire departments, county, regional, and local police departments, as well as emergency medical services.<\/p>\n
The newly awarded funds went on to purchase 28 Guardian Angel LED safety lights and 28 Streamlight headlamps for the crew that consists of 28 volunteer firefighters from Cambria County. The Dividing Ridge Wildfire Crew supports the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and also responds to wildfires across the state. The need for the equipment during emergencies cannot be understated.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have spent many nights in the mountains fighting forest fires, and it is vital that we know the location of all of our firefighters during a fire,\u201d Dividing Ridge Deputy Chief Trent Roberts said. \u201cThese specific lights and headlamps are dependable and long-lasting and will go a long way in improving our response and keeping our members safe. We are grateful to our partners at Energy Transfer for their support.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sign up for our newsletters<\/a>.<\/p>\n The company that houses the fund, Energy Transfer, is one of the largest energy logistics companies in the nation, according to its release, with almost 3,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure and gathering systems located in Pennsylvania alone.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are committed to supporting first responders in the communities where we work and operate, and this grant will not only benefit Cambria County, but the entire state of Pennsylvania,\u201d Chris Koop, Manager, Public Affairs for Energy Transfer, said. \u201cWe are very proud to play a role in making our first responders \u2013 and all of the communities they protect \u2013 that much safer.\u201d<\/p>\n
