SAUGERTIES, N.Y. \u2014 The Saugerties Youth Hockey Association will host the annual Saugerties Shamrock Showdown in honor of Joseph William Petramale on March 13-15 at the Kiwanis Ice Rink in Saugerties.<\/p>\n
The Under 10 and Under 12 tournament features four youth ice hockey teams per division.<\/p>\n
The competition will start on Friday, March 13, with the Saugerties Mustangs U10 facing the Bethlehem Eagles at 6:15 p.m., followed by the Saugerties Mustangs U12 taking on the Hudson Valley Riverhawks at 7:45 p.m. on opening night.<\/p>\n
The eight-team tournament will conclude with two championship games on Sunday, March 15. The U10 title game will start at 4:45 p.m., followed by the U12 title game at 6:15 p.m.<\/p>\n
The winners will take home the Joseph William Petramale Perpetual Trophy.<\/p>\n
Petramale passed away in 2024 at the age of 5. He loved all sports, especially hockey. His family will be on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck for the opening game of the tournament on March 13 and present the championship trophies to the winning teams on March 15.<\/p>\n
Admission to the Saugerties Shamrock Showdown is free and spectators are encouraged to attend. There will be several raffle items up for grabs throughout the course of the weekend.<\/p>\n
