{"id":123214,"date":"2026-02-25T17:04:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T17:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/123214\/"},"modified":"2026-02-25T17:04:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-25T17:04:10","slug":"student-senate-sends-official-resolution-in-response-to-racist-remarks-hoax-emails-the-brown-and-white-student-senate-sends-official-resolution-in-response-to-racist-remarks-hoax-emails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/123214\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Senate sends official resolution in response to racist remarks, hoax emails &#8211; The Brown and White Student Senate sends official resolution in response to racist remarks, hoax emails"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Student Senate XXVIII <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DVL8qC1DrRp\/?img_index=1&amp;igsh=ZTk2ZHkzY3Y4b2do\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sent an official resolution<\/a> titled \u201cA Resolution Supporting The Belonging, Safety, and Championship of Students of Color on Campus\u201d to the Lehigh community addressing the <a href=\"https:\/\/thebrownandwhite.com\/2026\/02\/23\/breaking-fraternity-sorority-social-events-suspended-after-racist-image-surfaces\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">events<\/a> of this past weekend and a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/thebrownandwhite.com\/2025\/09\/11\/lehigh-receives-email-with-racially-targeted-threat-proven-to-be-a-hoax\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hoax emails earlier this semester.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The resolution calls for collaboration with university administrators to address broader systemic issues and develop solutions to strengthen the campus community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs representatives of the student body, we believe it is essential to address these incidents and reassure our constituents through a clear and firm stance condemning what occurred,\u201d the email stated. \u201cWe believe these events are indicative of an underlying issue of racism among certain members of the campus community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The resolution cites a \u201cpersistent culture of racism that disproportionately targets students of color and raises concerns for their livelihood, safety and sense of belonging.\u201d The commitment is identified as Resolution SSR38-001.<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
