Infinite Erie has released an action-oriented housing plan. This plan will address Erie\u2019s chronic housing shortage. The City of Erie has been facing a significant affordable housing shortage and there has now been development of 250 new units that will support housing for the next five years in the core neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe analysis, led by Hemlock & Forge and Fourth Economy, shows that Erie needs significant investment in safe, quality housing to stabilize our core neighborhoods,\u201d said Kim Thomas, Executive Director, Infinite Erie. \u201cWith new local leadership and eager community development partners, the time is right to accelerate the rate of housing development by working together and aligning funding in a focused way.\u201d<\/p>\n
There has already been a planning process developed between Infinite Erie and a Housing Accelerator Workgroup. This plan will be utilized to identify anchor housing projects and align with public and private funding to complete construction.<\/p>\n
The initial goal is to build the 250 units within the next five years while meeting the following additional three goals:<\/p>\n
Goal 1: Supportive Housing<\/p>\n
Goal 2: Affordable Housing<\/p>\n
Goal 3: Workforce Housing<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile coordinating locally is a crucial step, funding at the state level is critical to accomplishing these goals in Erie, and we were pleased to see significant housing investments in Governor Shapiro\u2019s proposed budget. We will be working hard to garner legislative support for new funding to help advance our housing goals, as outlined in the 2026 Playbook.\u201d<\/p>\n
