Greater Scranton YMCA to host Read Across America Book Drive<\/p>\n
The Greater Scranton YMCA\u2019s 2026 Book Drive will run from Monday, March 2, through Friday, March 6, in honor of Read Across America Week, part of National Reading Month. Donated books will support literacy for children enrolled in the Y\u2019s Early Learning Centers in Dunmore and Olyphant.<\/p>\n
The Y is accepting new and gently used books for all ages. Community members may drop off donated books at the Y\u2019s Welcome Center, located at 706 N. Blakely St. in Dunmore, beginning Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the Y, we want to foster children\u2019s love of learning from an early age,\u201d said Rich Surridge, president and CEO of the Greater Scranton YMCA, in a news release. \u201cBy donating books, community members can support young readers as they build their literacy skills and develop an appreciation for reading.\u201d<\/p>\n

William Hopkins AL Auxiliary Post 570 to hold Bunny Breakfast<\/p>\n
William Hopkins American Legion Auxiliary Post 570 will hold a Bunny Breakfast on Sunday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Blakely Hose Company 2, 315 Second St., Blakely.<\/p>\n
Scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, sausage and hash browns will be served. Donation for adults is $10. Children 12 and under are free.<\/p>\n
Parents may take a photo with the bunny. Each child will receive a special gift. There will also be a craft table.<\/p>\n
A special basket raffle will be held for those donating items or cash for residents of the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. For suggested items, visit the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 570\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Mountain View Garden Club sets date for annual Plant Exchange and Marketplace<\/p>\n
The Mountain View Garden Club will host its annual Plant Exchange and Marketplace on Sunday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clifford Township Community Center and Park, Cemetery Street.<\/p>\n
The plant exchange will begin at 2 p.m. There will be a wide selection of locally grown perennials and other plants. Attendees who bring twoperennials may exchange them for two plants of similar size or value. Any plants that will be exchanged must be potted several weeks before the event.<\/p>\n
The Second Hand Rose Flea Market is a popular event. Donations at this market will support the Mountain View Garden Club Educational Grants for local schools, funding special projects and field trips that provide students with hands-on experience related to gardening and the environment.<\/p>\n
In addition to the plant exchange and flea market, local artisans and businesses will be selling their wares. The event will also feature live music.<\/p>\n
